Choosing A Wedding Photographer

Looking for wedding photographers in Ayrshire, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Edinburgh or elsewhere in Scotland can be a daunting business. With so many to choose from, where do you start?

Surprisingly, you might think that I’d want to photograph any wedding but that’s not the case. It’s very important to me and hopefully to the couples I’m photographing, that I’m the right photographer for their wedding.

To help you choose, here’s a list of reasons why I’m either the perfect photographer for your wedding or why you might be better choosing someone else.

It’s very important to me that couples feel comfortable and relaxed which always shows through in the photos.

Cost

If price is your primary concern, then I’m probably not the best option for you as I don’t aim to be the cheapest. My costs for photographing a wedding are carefully worked out to take into account the amount of time I spend on photographing a wedding. As well as the day itself, I will also arrange a meeting beforehand to chat about the day, do a recce of the location and spend a day editing the images afterwards, so in total if you book me to photograph your wedding, you are actually booking me for about 2 and a half days.

Not Too Bothered About Style

Photography has always been a great passion of mine and it’s something I love doing. I’ve spend many years perfecting my skills to make sure I can capture a wedding in a very natural way. It gives such as buzz capturing those special moments during the day and even more of a buzz when couples tell me how much they love their photographs. It’s part of who I am and hopefully you’ll love that too. If not then that’s fine. I hope you have a great day.

Sometimes I quietly suggest a pose but I often find people find their own poses very naturally if you create a relaxed atmosphere.

Just Need To Tick A Photographer Off My List

For some people who are planning their wedding, their photographer is just something else they need tick off, as it is one of those things they need for the day. I like to get to know couples and fit into their special day which makes for a more relaxed atmosphere and more natural photographs. If the photography is more of an afterthought, then I’m probably not the best choice for you.

Want Lots of Posed Shots

As a natural wedding photographer, my style is very much about capturing the moment. I’m always happy to include a few group shots of friends and family but I like to keep these to a minimum and when I do take them I always make them fun and natural. I find that if you do too many posed shots, the photography can become like a production line which is not what I’m about.

Even when shots have been arranged I like to keep them fun and natural.

Just Want a Photographer Who Knows The Venue

A lot of couples choose their wedding photographer on basis of how well they know the venue. Sometimes that can work well but it’s not necessarily the best way to decide. Any really good photographer will be able to see the potential in a venue and I always do a thorough recce of a venue I haven’t been to before. Even with venues I am very familiar with, I always do another recce as sometimes new features appear or familiar ones closed off. Even with venues I’ve visited countless times, I’m always finding new opportunities, as the time of year and weather is always different.

So, I hope that was helpful. If you’ve answered no to most of those points, then I’m probably the right photographer for you! If you feel the same way, then why not give me a call on 0141 363 0020 or drop me an email for a quick chat.
