Last year we were approached by Mount Freedom Cabins who were looking for Commercial Photographers in Ayrshire to take architectural and interior photographs of their new holiday cabins at Dunure just outside Ayr.
The award winning cabins had just been completed and the client urgently needed some high quality photography so they could start marketing them. The main challenge we had was that it was November and the hours of daylight were getting shorter and shorter. We also found out after a recce that the sun only illuminated the front of the cabins right at the end of the day as it was going down.
The client also wanted some aerial drone photography to show the cabins in context, which also meant we had to have perfect weather as the drone can’t operate in strong winds. Thankfully, after repeatedly checking the weather and a couple of trips we were able to complete all the photography.
One unique feature of the cabins is that they have an outside fireplace. We suggested that the best way to capture this was to wait until dusk so we could get the warm glow of the fire against the evening sky. This also allowed us to get some nice shots of the exteriors cabins at dusk.
It was well worth the wait, as the response on social media to the photography has been excellent. Within a month of posting them online the client had over 40 bookings and 3000 Instagram likes. It certainly goes to show that professional commercial photography is well worth the investment when you are marketing your business or products.
