As a wedding photographer, it’s always a delight to return to Cornhill Castle near Biggar as there is such a great selection of locations for wedding photographs.
Even though I know the venue very well, I’m always finding new possibilities, especially outside, as the grounds change with the seasons.
One feature which always offers possibilities for a wedding photographer is the gazebo at the back of the castle. Sometimes this is used for an outdoor wedding ceremony but as Kerry & Stuart were getting married in the marquee this made a perfect location for photographs.

I like to keep things fairly relaxed, so asking Kerry and Stuart to lean over the railing and look out at the view made for a perfect shot.
The area around the gazebo also has some wonderful mature trees which are great in hot weather as they offer some nice shade for groups. On this occasion I used also them for some informal shots of Kerry and Stuart.
Another nice feature of Cornhill Castle which is good for wedding photography is the fountain. The sun was very strong on this particular day, so I didn’t use it as the main location but later in the evening there was a lovely soft light coming in over fields looking towards Tinto Hill which made for a perfect shot of Kerry and Stuart.

As a wedding photographer, the evenings also offer up some opportunities to do creative shots. Kerry and Stuart had seen some shots I’d previously done with sparklers, so I arranged them just in front of the castle and asked them to draw a heart in the air. It made for the perfect ending to a perfect day.
