Perfect Winter Wedding at Ayr’s Fairfield House Hotel

One of my favourite images of Natalie & Jacob together.

When Natalie and Jake where looking for a wedding photographer to capture their wedding at the Fairfield House Hotel in Ayr, they wanted someone who could capture it in a very relaxed, natural way with the minimum of fuss or setting up.

Natalie and Jacob had a candle lighting at the start of their wedding ceremony.
They’d chosen a half  day package, so the day started with a few candid’s of some of their guests arriving for the wedding. It was also a great opportunity to meet Jake in person for the first time as I’d only been able to meet Natalie and Jacob online prior to the wedding as they live in the south of England.
I always love capturing the action of a confetti throw.
The ceremony itself was held at the Fairfield in the function room, which was nicely decorated for the occasion. At the start of the ceremony they both performed a candle lighting, where they both light a candle and then light a third one in the middle to celebrate them joining together. Myself and my wife had a similar ceremony at our wedding, although it was our two Mum’s who did it to celebrate the joining of the two families. I stuck in behind the table to get a great shot of them lighting the candles.
I just encouraged Natalie and Jacob to enjoy the moment while I took some photos.
After the ceremony I took Natalie and Jake down to the beach at Greenan Castle in Ayr for some shots of them together. This is a great setting as you have the dunes and the beach as well as the ruins of the castle in the background. I always like to keep this part of the day very relaxed and natural, so once I’d suggested a place for them to stand I just encouraged Natalie and Jacob to enjoy the moment while I took some photos. On this occasion I was assisted by my daughter Anna who joined us for this part of the shoot. Usually I’d do this on my own but the day before I’d hurt my back, so I asked her to come along and help carry some bags. On the way back to the hotel we all discovered a shared love of guinea pigs as we have two (Cupcake and Muffin) and Natalie and Jake also have some!
After the photo shoot we heading back to the Fairfield for some more candids of guests before the speeches which are always great for capturing people’s  emotions and reactions.
Perfect end to the day with a toast!
What really made my day though was this lovely feedback from Natalie and Jake after I’d sent the their photos.
‘Thank you so so much for these! They are all absolutely beautiful. You captured us perfectly and exactly what we wanted! Thank you again! ‘
