Friday 13th Lucky Day for Wedding at New Lanark Mill Hotel !

The Musicians Room at New Lanark is always a great venue for a wedding. Even on a dull day lots of natural light floods in.

Some might see Friday 13th March as unlucky but for Natalie and Aaron’s wedding at the New Lanark Mill Hotel it couldn’t have been luckier, as it was one of the last weddings before the Coronavirus lock down.

At the time it I still wasn’t certain what type of restrictions were going to take place. I was still hopeful that a wedding I was due to photograph on 28th March might still be able to go ahead, as it was quite small with only 50 guests but sadly, it and many others it had to be cancelled or postponed.

I always cover the wedding ceremony as it happens and love capturing moments like this.

Fortunately for Natalie and Aaron, the prospect of a lock down didn’t dampen the day. In fact it probably made it even more special as everyone knew that it might be their last chance to meet up for some time.

I always like to keep group shots like this one of Natalie and Aaron with their Best Man and his partner natural and relaxed.

As always, I’d met up with Natalie and Aaron prior to the wedding to chat about the day in more detail. This helped me get a feel for the types of shots they wanted and any key things which were happening such as their dog also coming along for the day! This allowed me to keep a mental note of things to look out for.

The time between the dinner and first dance is ideal for a few evening photos.

Another thing Natalie and Aaron were lucky with was the weather. The forecast was a bit mixed so I’d made lots of contingency plans for rain but in the end none of this was necessary as it was lovely and dry and the sun even came out. As I often tell couples, it’s very rare that a day is completely rained off and even then you can always turn it into a fun opportunity.

Surprisingly, I’m still getting enquiries for weddings so I’m still happy to chat over Zoom or Skype. You can either drop me an email or call me on 01292 859 001.
