Cats

The day started with Kim getting ready at her house, which was just a short drive from the Lochgreen House Hotel. When I arrived, her bridesmaids were there as well as her Mum and Dad and her cats! I do love animals at weddings although I’ve only ever seen dogs at the actual ceremony. I’m always keen to capture little moments and memories, so I managed to get a few shots of the cats coming in and out of the kitchen.

Little Moments

I’m very much a fly on the wall during the early part of the day, just capturing what happens. A couple of my favourite photographs are one of Kim having her make up done framed by the door into the hall and one of her Dad standing with his hands on the window sill looking out of the window. It’s little moments like this which help tell the story of the day.

Once Kim was in her dress it was time to head over to the Lochgreen to capture Cian chatting to the guests arriving. It was around this time is started to rain but not to worry, there was still the whole day ahead.

Jokes & Laughter

The ceremony itself was full of laugher with a few jokes from some of the guests which added to the occasion. I love capturing people’s expression during the ceremony and Kim and Cian’s was full of lots of great moments.

Contingency Plans

After the ceremony, Kim and Cian had asked for some family photos to be taken. When I did my recce a few weeks earlier, I’d identified some nice areas outside for this but by this time is was raining quite heavily so we had to stay indoors. Fortunately, I always make contingency plans for rain so I went to plan B which was to do them in the conservatory, which was ideal as it had lots of soft natural light coming in  through the windows.

In case things didn’t clear up I also took some shots of Kim and Cian together inside. One of my favourites was the two of them leaning over the bannister at the top of the staircase as it was very natural and relaxed. I then left Kim and Cian to mingle with their guests while I took some more candid shots before the meal.

Emotional Speeches

The speeches before the meal were particularly memorable. As Cian is Irish a lot of his family were over from Ireland and the speeches were both very emotional and funny. It’s something the Irish are particularly good at.

Here Comes The Sun

At this point I took a wee break for a bite to eat and afterwards noticed that the rain had finally stopped! I quickly dived outside to check all the locations and see if any areas might be waterlogged and difficult to walk in but thankfully this wasn’t the case. When Kim and Cian had finished their meal, we went outside for a walk round the grounds. One amusing thing we spotted were the number rabbits on the Lochgreen Hotel’s lawns. There were literally hundreds of them! As they were walking along I caught Cian pointing them out to Kim. On the way back I noticed that some lovely evening sun had broken through the clouds, so I asked Kim and Cian to stand at the edge of some woods and look out across the lawns while I took some shots. I let them enjoy the moment while I took some natural shots of them together. After that it was back inside for the first few dances and the end to perfect day.
