When Elidh and Chris were looking for Glasgow wedding photographers to capture their special day they were attracted to my relaxed, natural style which fitted in with the plans for their wedding day.
Eilidh and Chris didn’t want any bridal prep, so the day started with Eilidh arriving at the House For An Art Lover with her Mum and Dad and bridesmaids. Before the ceremony, I thought it would nice to get some shots of Eilidh in her dress with her bridal party before I went next door to get ready for the ceremony.
The White Room
The white room at the House for an Art Lover is probably one of the nicest rooms to get married in at a wedding venue in Glasgow. As a photographer, this makes for great wedding photography during the ceremony, as even on overcast autumn days like this it means there is lots of natural light bouncing around inside the venue.
Natural Shots
As it had been threatening to rain all morning and the forecast wasn’t looking great, we decided to go outside for the Eilidh and Chris’s photoshoot straight after the ceremony. I suggested we use a path through the nearby Bellahouston Park for the photos. I started by asking Eilidh and Chris to just walk along the path which made for some lovely natural photographs and then took some shots of them standing while they enjoyed the moment together. They were so relaxed that I just kept snapping away without much in the way of direction. Just as we were finishing it started to rain so we headed back inside for some family photos.
The white oval room in The House for an Art Lover is perfect for the photography of small groups at a wedding. Eilidh and Chris only wanted shots of the immediate family which meant there was plenty of time to take candid shots at the drinks reception while they chatted to their guests.
Intimate Atmosphere
As the room used for the meal is right next door to the white room where the ceremony and drinks reception was being held, it made for a very intimate atmosphere. I didn’t want to block people’s view when I was photographing the speeches so I just stayed in one place. For this I deployed my secret piece of equipment which is a folding camp stool!
It’s quite ingenuous how the staff at the House for an Art Lover convert what is essentially a house/tourist attraction into a wedding venue. I was wondering where the evening reception was going to take place only to discover that they convert the downstairs cafe which made for a great venue for the first dance.
